A Sense of Accomplishment...

If I go with the dictionary meaning of the word “Accomplishment”, it means ‘something that has been achieved successfully’ or ‘the successful achievement of a task’.
It was the first day of my first job. When I entered the office premises, there was this touchy feeling of accomplishment. I felt like today I have achieved something in life. Well! I had all the reasons to feel so. I had been waiting for a long time to complete my studies and start working. Finally got selected in a reputed organization but again had to wait for 5-6 months before joining. I was one of the first students to get placed but one of the last to join amongst my batch mates. One by one my friends got placed and joined their respective organisations. But I was still waiting for my joining date to be announced by the organisation.
Finally I realized that I was living the day, which I had been waiting for a long time. As I was introducing myself to the colleagues at office, the thoughts of achievement, success and accomplishment went on at the back of my mind. I felt proud that I have achieved what I wanted. That whole day passed in knowing the people and the organization. Finally at the end of the day I realized that although I have achieved what I desired but this is not the end. It’s just the beginning of a new end. Then I understood that accomplishment is not something that can be achieved by completing a task, it is an ongoing journey, every part of which has to be enjoyed.
I remember a quote which I read somewhere that goes as follows…
“We die to finish schooling, die to step into the college, die to start working and die to retire. Finally while dying we realize that we forget something… We forget to LIVE”
